Canaletas, a manufacturing company of drinking fountains located in El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona),has wanted to contribute with the
Association against Cancer (AECC, for its acronym in Spanish). The company donated a drinking water fountain to the patients who are following radiotherapy treatment in the Hospital La Princesa (Madrid).
“We are very grateful to Canaletas –says Mª José Meniz, general Volunteer Coordinator in the Provincial Board of Madrid of the
AECC– for its donation, which represents a great improvement for the ills who are following a hard treatment of radiotherapy in the hospital”.
Carmen Blanco, Volunteer Coordinator in the University Hospital La Princesa (Madrid), highlights how beneficial this is to the hospital: “This is a basic need that benefits to all of the center’ users”.
For Canaletas, this action falls under its commitment towards the Corporate Social Responsibility. “
AECC hospital volunteers are enjoying in the day hospital of the University Hospital La Princesa the use of one of our drinking fountains –explains Jordi Morera, CEO of Canaletas– the maintenance service of which we are carrying out. As we know the need existing within hospitals and how difficult is to make new investments, we decided to do our bit for improving the quality of life among cancer patients”.
The
AECC was founded in 1953 with the aim to combat cancer in all its forms. The association counts on volunteers, partners and workers whose effort are joined together for achieving the association objectives. Such objectives are: educating society in all possible processes and mechanisms of disease prevention; being close to patients and their families, giving them support to palliate their suffering; and promoting an excellent oncological research, serving as a link between society and scientific community.
